Vegan Chilli and Garlic Tofu Sandwich Spread

I’m always looking for new ideas for sandwiches, we eat a lot of hummus but it’s nice to have something different, so this Tofu Sandwich Spread, whizzed up in my ThermoCook blender is a great alternative, and it’s dairy-free and vegan-friendly.

A vegan sandwich spread which is easy to make in a power blender.

I am not an expert with tofu, but I do know that on its own it has a very mild flavour. This makes it ideal to carry other flavours, my plan was to create a spread that was full of flavour, not entirely smooth but with a little texture.  The Optimum Froothie ThermoCook is a brilliant multi-function blender with a heating element which has pretty well replaced my food processor and blender. You don’t need the heating element for this recipe, but you do need a good blender.

Making Vegan Tofu Sandwich Spread in the Thermocook

I’m really excited by the prospect of adding different flavours to this spread, I’m sure that olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and many other vegetables could be added to ring the changes.  The texture is quite soft so it would also make a great dip with crisps/chips and vegetable crudites.

What do you think would work well with this tofu spread?

Great idea. I eat tofu most days (baked, grilled, dehydrated, made into tofush) but haven’t thought about using it as a spread before!

And yet somehow once I had made it, I did wonder why I never thought of it before!

What a delicious sandwich spread Janice, I love the idea of adding different flavours too, would probably try olive and sun dried tomato too. Pinned for later 🙂

This sounds so good, I am not sure my blender is up to it but I will give it a go! It would be nice with some chilli and red peppers too I bet.

The spring onions are the thing that needs most chopping so if you chop them finely first, you should be okay, the tofu is pretty soft.

What a brilliant way to use tofu. Despite being vegetarian for more years than I care to remember, I’ve only ever used tofu on rare occasions so haven’t experimented with it nearly as much as I should have. The flavours sound really good and as you say this would make a great dip too.

I’m rather surprised by that, Choclette. I think you will have to develop some tofu recipes for Tin & thyme.
