  • Place the tart into the Air Fryer and set at 180C/ 350F for 30 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes cover the top of the tart with a piece of aluminium foil to prevent the almonds from burning.
  • After 30 minutes remove the drawer of the air fryer or open the lid and leave to cool for 20 minutes before lifting the tart from the air fryer.
  • Carefully run a knife around the edge of the tart, then place the loose base on a jam jar and the tin should ease away. Slide the tart off the base with a spatula and place it on a serving plate.

Notes

If you don't want to or don't have time to make your own pastry, then use ready-made shortcrust pastry.

Getting the tart tin out of your air fryer

The tart tin is a snug fit in my air fryer and I need to use my hands without oven gloves to remove it.  My solution is to leave it in the drawer until it is cool enough to lift out.  However, if you are in a hurry and don't want to wait until the tart cools, then make two long folded strips of aluminium foil and form them in a cross at the bottom of the tin.  The ends should come up above the tart tin.  You can then lift the tin out using this 'cradle'.

To bake in the oven

Pre heat the oven to 190c/170c Fan/375F and bake for 35-40 minutes
