Slow Cooker Ham for Cold Cuts

A succulent and delicious ham, cooked slowly in cider, then rolled and wrapped to make it easy to slice cold.

Ingredients
 

  • 2.5 kg Ham or gammon joint
  • 500 millilitres water

Instructions
 

  • Place the ham into the slow cooker
  • Pour the water into the slow cooker
  • Cook for 4-5 hours
  • When cooked lift out carefully with large forks or spoons and dry off on kitchen paper.
  • Lay out a double layer of cling film (saran wrap) long enough to wrap twice around the ham, place the ham on the cling film and wrap tightly in the film.
  • Cover tightly with another layer of cling film if needed.
  • Allow to cool in the fridge until completely cold (overnight).
  • Unwrap and slice as required.

Notes

The slices can be eaten cold or reheated and served with chutney, mustard or gravy.
