  • 200 g Wholemeal or Spelt Flour
  • 100 g plain white flour
  • 50 g rolled oats
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black treacle or molasses
  • 250 ml buttermilk

  • Preheat the Healthy Fry and grease and flour the baking tin which comes with the air fryer.
  • Mix the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl, then make a well in the centre, add the treacle or molasses and the buttermilk and draw in the flour until you have a soft dough.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape into a round.  Make a deep cross in the top of the dough and place in the baking tin.
  • Place into the Healthy Fry and set the temperature to 195C for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 180C and bake for a further 20 - 25 minutes.
  • Remove from the tin and put on a cooling tray.  Serve with butter or on it's own with homemade soup.
